Thoughts on The VVitch

I finally got to watch a movie I’ve had on my watchlist for some time and I have some thoughts … So here are – without further ado – my Thoughts on The VVitch. The VVitch Director: Robert EggersWriter: Robert EggersYear: 2015Country: America, CanadaCast: Thomasin – Anya-Taylor JoyWilliam – Ralph InesonKatherine – Kate DickieCaleb – Harvey ScrimshawMercy – Ellie GraingerJonas – Lucas Dawson Length: 92 min IMDb The VVitch – Plot Summary After being banished from their community a puritan family settles out to make their own future. The seven incredibly devout family members settle near a dark, mysterious forrest and try to fend for themselves. After a while their crops start failing and what should have been a new life full of hope and success turns sour soon: The family turns on each other, blaming it all on the witch living in the nearby woods … The VVitch – New England Madness I have never been to New England. I know nothing about New England. But it sure feel like it’s a beautifully creepy …

post of the month january

Post of the Month – January 2020

Good Morning, evening or afternoon, friends.
I thought I might start some new things in 2020 – even though I am not entirely sure of what all of those may be – but here is one of the new things I’m trying: I want to put my month into a blog post – which would then make twelve posts a year – for you to read and enjoy.
I’m not sure, what this Post of the Month will include but I am feeling like using it as some sort of way to look back and reflect on all sorts of things: It’s gonna be a little personal, I may include things I’ve achieved each month, I may talk about products I used and liked, new revelations, plans, movies, games, music or updates on projects all of those things.
Secondly, I’d like to include some future-oriented content: What are my plans, what’s my watchlist? That sort of stuff.
I am starting with my Post of the Month – January 2020 and figure things out along the lines …

Thoughts on The Lighthouse

But more wonderful than the lore of old men and the lore of books is the secret lore of ocean. H.P.Lovecraft Darkness lies within all of us. And if there’s one thing that brings it out perfectly it’s loneliness and isolation. Let’s dive deeper into: The Lighthouse The Lighthouse Director: Robert EggersWriter: Robert Eggers, Max EggersYear: 2019Country: America, CanadaCast: Ephraim Winslow – Robert PattinsonThomas Wake – Willem Dafoe Length: 110 min Plot Summary Where and how do I start? What is actually happening in this movie is actually hard to grasp and even harder to describe. To this day I am not quite sure what I actually witnessed. That is part of the experience though. So I recommend you still keep an open mind. This is why I will only give a very short, very rudimentary summary: A young man takes a job with a reclusive lighthouse keeper all the way out at sea. The men don’t necessarily get along. The rough forces of nature, as well as the isolation, don’t necessarily make life easier …

Thoughts on Parasite

The town I live in has something very great about it: Each month they show not-so-mainstream movies away from the huge cinema in town. For someone from a small city that is amazing. When the most indie and artsy thing you usually get to see is Endgame … That is amazing. So: What did my friends and I do? We took advantage of that, of course and went to see Parasite a while back … And holy shit. What a film! Here’s my thoughts on Parasite! Parasite Director: Boon Joon-HoWriter: Boon Joon-HoYear: 2019Country: South KoreaCast: Song Kang-ho: Kim Ki-taekLee Sun-kyun: Park Dong-ikJo Yeo-jeong: Yeon-kyoJang Hye-jin: Chung-sookPark So-dam: Kim Ki-jungChoi Woo-shik: Kim Ki-wooJeong Ji-so: Park Da-hyeJung Hyun-joon: Park Da-songLee Jung-eun: Gook Moon-gwang Park Myung-hoon: Geun-se Length: 132 Minutes Parasite – Plot Summary The Kim family lives in poverty: Crammed in a basement, no money to pay for necessities, no proper jobs … With their son Ki-woo’s friend Min arrives an opportunity: Min wants Ki-Woo to take over his tutoring student Park Da-Hye while he’s away abroad. Ki-Woo …

Travel Stories: Panama – Part 6: Back to Panama City

We’re almost through, aren’t we? This feels so weird, honestly. Over the last few weeks I have been blogging weekly which feels very much like an achievment to me. Thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey with me! You mean a lot to me!Now: Without further ado: Here’s part 6: Back to Panama City! Let’s adress the elephant in the room: The Panamá Canal Apart from tax fraud this is probably the ONE thing most people associate Panama with. The Canal. In and of itself a wonder of modern – and not so modern engineeringNow: I’m not an engineer … I watch movies in class. So all of this wasn’t too exciting for me. I feel like I should disclose that. If you want to see the flood gates open and close you should most definetely check the schedule and be there early. While the bus drivers may not care about time and punctuality most captains do. If not: There’s more to do: There is a museum spanning over four or …

Travel Stories:Panama – Part 5: Portobelo

Are you ready for some pirate action? Because today we will (re)visit the small bayside town of Portobelo, Panamá. This place smells of history and sounds of clanking swords … yet there is not to much else to do there … How to get to Portobelo Here’s were hings get tricky (again). As I’ve talked about in my Santa Catalina – Post: Getting around Panama isn’t that easy, even if you do have a car. And with Portobelo ist was a little bit worse … There are some trips being sold yet … They’re rare and usually not under 100$. Which is a little ridicoulus … But more on that soon. We went on to ask the really nice guy at the El Machico reception and he had a solution: Take the bus. If you want to get to Portobelo you need to get to Albrook Bus Terminal and take the bus headed towards Colón. There’s an express one that will usually not stop inbetween or some more scenic options. Do not go all the …

Let’s get spooky! Halloween recommendations.

The spookiest day of the year has finally arrived, which to me means: Let’s have a scary good time, my dearest of friends!I thought I’d celebrate this most frightful time of times with some Halloween recommendations. These are merely subjective so you know … No hate. And feel free to leave your scary-time favourites in the comments or on my Social Media. Serial Killers – Parcast Network [Podcast] Now I’m a sucker for true crime. I’ve newer really been scred of clowns, ghosts or gholies … But real life monsters? Yes. After all: Psychology is the scariest of diciplines (right after media studies, of course). Like many – I am really interested in what makes people … peolpe. What makes them think, do, feel … what makes them turn to darkness? This podcast explores exactely that. Diving into the minds and souls of serial killers, exploring their youth and their deeds. Now the podcasts goal is not to explain away the deeds but simply to inform. The research is amazing – even though none of …

Travel Stories: Panama – Part 4: San Blas Islands

Ok, where do I start? One very interesting thing about Panama is it’s georgraphical makeup: Panamá is a so called landbridge; it connects the landmasses between Costa Rica and Colombia and has two coasts with completely different characteristics. I’ve told you about one of those coasts already: Santa Catalina was a beach town located near the Pacific. Let’s hop over to the other side, shall we? San Blas Islands The San Blas Islands are a group of smaller and bigger carribean islands just off the Atlantic coast of Panama. Some of them do have people living on them, some don’t. The whole area of San Blas is a self-contained Guna Community and therefore only accessible for strangers and tourists through booking a tour. The tours start from Panamá City and will then transport you up to the coast where you will then enter the boat to get your to the island you will be staying at. El Machico Hostal The Hostel we’d stay at in Panamá City. It is very central and you can walk almost …
